Mumbai Police on Wednesday solved a horrifying case of murder in the eastern suburbs of the city and arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly killing a 17-year-old teenager, then dismembering his body in the kitchen of the house.

According to the police, on August 28, the RCF police in eastern suburbs of Mumbai had got information regarding a dismembered dead body of a young boy. Upon receiving the information, the officials from the RCF police rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body for a post mortem. The police later registered a murder case against an unknown suspect for allegedly killing the teenager and began investigations.

"The body of the teen was cut into several pieces. He cut his head, legs and hands and later dumped the body," an official said.

The police said, during investigations the police found that on the day of the incident, the deceased identified as Ishwar Awhad was seen with the suspect who was identified as Shafi alias Shafiq Ahmed Shaikh, 33. The police picked him up for questioning but did not get any satisfactory answers from Shafi upon questioning him for the murder.

"He was questioned, at first he gave unsatisfactory answers to the questioned asked by the investigators. Later, he was thoroughly questioned following which he confessed that he had killed the deceased after being angry with him for allegedly constantly teasing his wife and his wife's sister," the official said.

The police said, it has been found that the suspect had earlier warned him to stop teasing his wife and his sister-in-law but he did not stop. His wife had also previously attempted to clear Shafi's doubts and told him that she took him as a brother. However, Shafi did not like the deceased teasing them and on August 28 allegedly killed him.

The police said that the accused was later placed under arrest and his interrogations revealed that he first killed the teenage boy and later cut his body into multiple pieces to dump it. He had kept the body in his kitchen to later dump it.

Further investigations in the matter are going on, the police said.
