The Dahisar police have arrested a women’s gang involved in pickpocketing during the festive season. The accused used to take advantage of crowded markets and shops to steal cash and jewellery from women’s purses. A woman and her daughter have been arrested, while her daughter-in-law is stated to be absconding.
The police said that a theft had been reported at a saree shop in Dahisar, by complainant Vaishali Satish Chavan, 45, a resident of Mira Road. She had said that when she was buying a saree at the shop on April 9, between 8 pm and 8 pm, three unidentified women had crowded around her and she realised later that her purse with Rs 18,000 cash and her Aadhaar card had been stolen.
