<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/2017-mumbai-murder-case-after-nine-years-on-the-run-murder-case-suspect-nabbed-by-mumbai-police-from-goa-23643321" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai Police</a> is on high alert after receiving a bomb threat call and detecting a separate social media post warning of possible terrorist attacks in India.
Police said both threats are being verified, while security agencies have activated standard precautionary measures.
According to officials, the main Mumbai Control Room received a phone call on August 4 in which the caller allegedly claimed that a person linked to the Kurar area was planning to blow up Kurar Police Station.
Following the call, police immediately activated the prescribed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and began verifying the information.
Security measures were strengthened while <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/opinion/article/mid-day-opinion-hoax-bomb-threats-are-no-joke-treat-them-as-serious-crimes-23641463" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">officers assessed the credibility of the threat</a>.
<h2>Terror warning posted on X</h2>
In a separate incident, the Mumbai Police Web Development Centre detected a post on X that warned of possible terrorist attacks in India between August 9 and August 18.
Police said the message was immediately shared with senior officers through the official police communication network in line with established procedures.
The alert was also circulated to all concerned <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/rs-25-lakh-extortion-case-mumbai-police-slap-stringent-mcoca-charges-against-gangster-zulfikar-behlim-11-others-23643319" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">police units for intelligence assessment</a>, verification and preventive action.
<h2>Police investigating both threats</h2>
Officials said investigations are underway to establish the source and credibility of both the bomb threat call and the social media post.
As a precaution, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-social-media-influencer-among-four-held-by-powai-police-in-abduction-case-linked-to-betting-app-dispute-23643032" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">police have increased vigilance</a> and alerted relevant units across the city.
The officials have not confirmed whether either threat is credible, and enquiries remain ongoing.
