Survivor claims Hyderabad businessman sexually assaulted her, on the pretext of marriage

A 27-year-old model and TV actress has registered a rape and sodomy case at Oshiwara police station, against a businessman from Hyderabad. Her statement was recorded at Oshiwara police station and the case was transferred to DN Nagar police station on Friday evening.
Sources have told mid-day that the small screen actor was in touch with the businessman since 2018, and the duo started dating each other soon after. The accused, identified as Vijay Naidu, would meet the survivor in Hyderabad, when she’d visit the city for shoots. Naidu also made several trips to Mumbai to meet her. The survivor, in her statement, said that she was raped during these trips. “I befriended him in March 2018 and he also gave me an engagement ring and promised to marry me. He then asked me to visit him at a hotel in Andheri. Despite my resistance, he raped me inside the hotel room,” said the model, in her statement to police.

Later, on November 29, 2018, the survivor said that Naidu visited her home in Andheri West. “When I asked him about marriage, he told me that once his sister’s wedding was fixed, he would marry me.
After the fake promise, he raped me on that night. He also told me not to go for shoots,” she said in the FIR copy. The FIR further reads that on several occasions, the businessman would insult her publicly, because she refused to stop working in ads and TV serials.
“On November 22, 2019, I was in Versova and he called me to Royal Palm in Aarey Colony in Goregaon East. When I refused to meet him, he threatened me. So, I went… he [then] raped and sodomised me besides having oral sex inside the room between November 22 and 24,” she added.
The model alleged that, despite all the humiliation, she had been asking him to marry her. “At last I stopped talking to him. But, then he started to demand R15 lakh. He also threatened to make my [private] photographs viral on social media.”
She has further alleged that when she was in Madhya Pradesh on March 29, 2020 for a shoot, the accused had been “mentally harassing” her, by making desperate video calls.
After completing her assignment in Madhya Pradesh, the model reached Mumbai on September 19. “He learnt about my arrival in Mumbai and started demanding money from me.”
She decided to approach the police, because Naidu had threatened to ruin her image. An officer attached to DN Nagar police station said, “She has taken the names of a few hotels in the city, where she was allegedly raped and sodomised. We will check all these crime spots and call in the accused.”
At the time of going to the press, the model was present at DN Nagar police station. No arrest has been made so far.
