Navi Mumbai Police rescued two child labourers from two different eateries in the city, an official said on Wednesday. The official told news agency PTI that they found the children were employed at the eateries during a routine inspection on Tuesday. According to a report by PTI, the incident happened on February 23 in the Vashi area of Navi Mumbai.

According to assistant police inspector Pawan Nandre's statement to PTI, the accused called the victim, a mobile repair business owner from Kurla in adjacent Mumbai, at a lodge in Vashi, offering him US dollars in return for the Indian money. He added that although the complainant had given the accused persons Rs 60,000 they did not provide him with foreign currency in return.

Following the complaint, the police arrested seven persons, who hail from Jharkhand, on February 24 and they were booked under Sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
