A 39-year-old Nigerian national has been arrested by the police in Palghar district after the cops recovered cocaine valued at Rs 3 lakh, as announced by an official on Saturday.


Senior Inspector Pramod Badakh of Mira Bhayander Vasai-Virar Police's Crime Unit 3 told PTI that they had received a credible tip-off and acting on it, they intercepted Yao Amed Raymond, the Nigerian individual, at Hanuman Nagar in Nalasopara on Thursday night. A subsequent search revealed that he possessed of 30 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street value of about Rs 3 lakh


Cocaine, a potent drug known for its illegal recreational use, has the potential for addiction. 


A case has been registered against Raymond under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by the Nalasopara police, stated Inspector Badakh.

A 46-year-old man has been apprehended by the Navi Mumbai police, with the recovery of mephedrone, a synthetic party drug, valued at approximately Rs 5.2 lakh as per a PTI report. 

According to the report, the cops were acting on intelligence they received and searched Safhi Ahmed Iqbal Ahmed near Kharghar Crematorium on Thursday afternoon. Upon inspection, he was found to be in possession of 52 grams of mephedrone, colloquially known as 'meow meow', with an estimated value of around Rs 5.2 lakhs, the station house officer of Kharghar police station told PTI. A case has been filed against Ahmed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, according to the police official.

Meanwhile, the anti-narcotics cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch has recovered MD drugs and hydroponic weed from the Dharavi and Dahisar areas of Mumbai, as announced by the police on Saturday. 

According to a report in ANI, the approximate value of the seized drugs in the international market is Rs 5 crore. Two individuals, including a Nigerian national, have been arrested in connection with the case.

Authorities reported that 26-year-old Shahrukh Shaikh was apprehended from Matunga Labor Camp in Dharavi, where 4 kg 740 grams of hydroponic weed were recovered. A Nigerian national residing in the Kandivali area was arrested at his residence, the report added.
