Muzaffarnagar: A youth tried to rape a 15-year-old girl when she had gone to relieve herself in the&nbsp;fields at Salarpur village under Jansath police station here, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday when the girl went to relieve herself in nearby fields, police said. The accused Bittu dragged her to nearby sugarcane fields and tried to rape her.
However, the girl raised an alarm following which the accused ran away. Irate people protested against the incident and demanded arrest of the culprit, police said.
A case has been registered against the absconding accused, police said, adding efforts are on to nab him.
