In a major development in the Rs 252-crore mephedrone investigation, the Mumbai Police Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has issued back-to-back summons for next week.

Actor Siddhant Kapoor, brother of actress Shraddha Kapoor, was summoned on Tuesday, and social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, was summoned on Wednesday, officials said.

A senior Mumbai Police officer said that Orry has been asked to appear before the ANC’s Ghatkopar Unit at 10 am on Thursday.

The action follows statements given by Dubai-based alleged drug trafficker Salim Suhail Shaikh during interrogation.

The officer also said that Orry was earlier called for questioning last Thursday, but he did not appear, which led to the issue of a fresh summons.

Police officials said that they are continuing to record statements of people whose names were mentioned during Shaikh’s questioning. This is being done to independently check and verify each claim.

According to the police, Shaikh allegedly said that he organised drug-laced parties in Mumbai, Goa and Dubai. He claimed—though without verification—that these parties were attended by Bollywood personalities, a film director, the son of a well-known actor, a Page-3 celebrity, a former Mumbai politician and even a relative of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim. Police stressed that these allegations are unverified and that no one has been named as an accused solely on the basis of Shaikh’s statements.
