The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Creative Art Designer Siddharth Pithani on Thursday in connection with the drug case related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. He was Sushant’s flatmate and a member of his core committee. The NCB had issued three summons to Pithani, but he did not appear. Thereafter, they traced him to Hyderabad and found electronic evidence from him.

According to the NCB, Pithani was in touch with several of the arrested accused in the case, including some drug peddlers. An officer said some WhatsApp chats had been recovered from Pithani, which would be crucial evidence in the case. Probe has revealed that even Pithani purchased drugs. They presented Pithani in a Hyderabad court and took his transit remand.

The NCB officer said, “He was produced before the CMM court in Mumbai and given NCB custody till June 1.”

Samir Wankhede, NCB Mumbai zonal director, told mid-day, “Pithani was summoned thrice but he did not come after which NCB traced him and arrested him from Hyderabad.”

It was Siddharth who first saw Sushant’s body hanging from the fan at his house. Thereafter, he called the police. Sources said that Pithani was very close to Sushant and used to live in the same apartment with him.

The NCB has questioned a number of people in the case, of which the four most important are Pithani, servant Neeraj Singh, house management supervisor Deepesh Sawant and cook Keshav.
