The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-thane-police-investigate-fraudster-creating-fake-company-id-to-scam-individuals-23304957" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane police</a> have arrested a man for allegedly tampering with a weighing scale at a construction site.
According to the police, the man tampered with a weighing scale to facilitate the collection of scrap in a dishonest manner.
The accused has been identified as Abhishek Umesh Veerbhadra.&nbsp;
"Security guards at the construction site caught Veerbhadra near a weighing scale on Thursday. An inquiry showed that he had installed some device on the scale to display a lower weight of the material placed on it," the police official said.
During interrogation, Veerbhadra told the police that he was acting on behalf of one Hemant who has got a contract to collect scrap from the site. "The contractor allegedly wanted to transport more scrap but by showing a lower weight, the police official said.
"The Kapurbawdi police are on the lookout for the person named by the accused," the police official added.
Meanwhile, in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/thane-all" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane</a>, three persons have been booked for allegedly employing a 14-year-old girl in their homes as domestic help.
According to the police, no one has been arrested in the case and further probe is underway.
