The body of an unidentified minor girl was discovered near a construction site in Maharashtra’s Thane city, police said on Sunday. A case of murder has been registered, and an investigation is underway, reported PTI.

According to an officer from the police control room, the girl’s body was found on Saturday afternoon near a road in front of a construction site in the Kasarvadavali area. She had a hood tightly wrapped around her neck, prompting police to suspect foul play behind the death.

The girl is believed to be between 15 and 17 years old, approximately four feet tall, and was wearing a green salwar-kurta with bangles on her wrists, the officer said, according to PTI.

Her body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and photographs have been circulated among law enforcement agencies to assist with identification.

The Kasarvadavali police have registered a case under sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (destruction of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, an officer said.

Sub-Inspector Tushar Mane of the Thane crime branch is leading the investigation. Police have requested anyone with information related to the girl to contact him on 9082150306.

Teenager stabs 15-year-old relative to death after quarrel in Delhi

A teenager has been apprehended for allegedly stabbing his 15-year-old relative to death with a piece of glass following a quarrel in east Delhi’s Mandawali area, police said on Sunday.

Police received information from LBS Hospital around 12.06 am on Sunday regarding the medico-legal case (MLC) of a “brought dead” boy, identified as Imran. Officers immediately visited the hospital and spoke to the victim’s sister, Shabana.

“She told them that he was attacked by a boy with a sharp piece of glass, resulting in a grievous injury under his left arm. He died during treatment,” police said.

Later that night, during routine patrolling in Preet Vihar, officers detained a boy behaving suspiciously. During questioning, he confessed to having stabbed the victim during a quarrel. He was taken into custody and handed over to the Mandawali police station for further legal action.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim and the accused were related. Further inquiry is ongoing, police added.
