Thieves strike police HQ, make away with sandalwood tree

In a bizarre incident, which could leave the police force red faced, unidentified person s chopped and made away with a sandalwood tree planted on the premises of police headquarters in Shivajinagar.
The theft occurred despite the premises being guarded round the clock. Officials said the incident came to light on Monday morning after a few policemen patrolling the premises discovered that the tree was cut at the stem and immediately informed their superiors. A case was registered at the Shivajinagar police station.u00a0
“The thieves must have conducted a recce before executing the job in the wee hours of Monday,” Sub-Inspector P R Waghmare of the Shivajinagar police
