The accused were identified as Assistant Project Officer Nilesh Bhagchand Ahire (28), Project Officer Lalit Govind Dharmadhikari (27) and Rector Manoj Namdev Shirpurkar (40). Rector of Navi Sangvi Girls’ Hostel Shakuntala Chavan had registered the complaint against the trio.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarang Awad said, “Ahire threatened to suspend Chavan on charges of making poor arrangements during the minister’s visit to her hostel. In a written reply to the notice served by Ahire, Chavan refuted all charges and requested him to not initiate action against her.

Later, Dharmadhikari called on her husband’s cellphone and asked him to pay Rs 50,000 for not suspending Chavan. She then complained to the ACB, following which they laid a trap at the District Collector’s office. Deputy SP Ashok Bharti is investigating the case.” u00a0
