Police said the mob resorted to violence even as some of the community leaders were discussing the issue with the authorities. Police say they are clueless about who the rioters were. District Magistrate Aparna Upadhyay said the administration was more keen to restore normalcy in the region. "Our first priority is to restore normalcy. It is a sensitive religious matter and we have to tread cautiously. We have to build confidence among the people," she said.
