A 44-year-old man was allegedly strangled to death by his wife and her paramour, who later dumped his body in a river in Maharashtra's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/thane-murder-accused-on-run-for-14-years-held-in-gujarat-23594623" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane district</a>, police said on Saturday, reported news agency PTI.
The Badlapur police have launched a search for the accused, who have been on the run after committing the crime on Thursday, an official said.
"The accused, Manisha Parmar and Laxman Bhoir (36), were neighbours and were having an affair. <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/thane-three-arrested-for-murdering-60-year-old-man-found-dead-in-murbad-23600787" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">The victim</a>, Kisan Parmar, had confronted his wife about her illicit relationship," senior inspector Kishore Shinde said, reported PTI.
He said that the accused strangled Kisan Parmar with a rope, wrapped his body in bedding and dumped it in a river in Badlapur, reported PTI.
The duo fled the scene. The victim's body was recovered by the police on Thursday night and sent for a postmortem, the official said.
A <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/accused-on-run-for-murder-in-thane-district-nabbed-from-new-delhi-after-13-years-23582424" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">first information report</a> (FIR) was registered under sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence of an offence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused, and a search is underway for them.

In another case, a 34-year-old man was beaten to death by his cousin and an aide on suspicion of stealing a mobile phone in Navi Mumbai, police said on Friday, reported PTI.
The attack took place in a public toilet in the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-mumbai-man-held-for-killing-uncle-in-thane-district-23601078" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Turbhe area</a> on Thursday morning, an official said.
A case has been registered under section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused Arjun Adagale (55) and one Vidhan Mandal, who works at the public toilet, reported PTI.
According to a preliminary investigation, Adagale allegedly suspected his cousin, Sudhakar Patole, of stealing his mobile phone, reported PTI.
"Adagale and his friend Mandal brought the victim out of his house and took him to a public toilet, where they consumed alcohol. The accused allegedly brutally assaulted Patole and killed him on the spot," an official from the Turbhe police station said, reported PTI.
He said that the duo fled the scene, and <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-civic-body-reviews-monorail-metro-emergency-readiness-orders-submission-of-disaster-plans-23600787" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">the body</a> was later recovered and sent for a postmortem.
The Turbhe police have launched a manhunt for the accused and are examining CCTV footage from the area to trace their movements.
