Reacts a relieved Alpa Shah, motheru00a0of 6-yr-old Karnit

The last two weeks for Alpa Shah, mother of Karnit, were agonising. Her pain is unimaginable but with the police finding her darling six-year-old in Uttar Pradesh she can now heave a sigh of relief. "All I want is to take my son on my lap and rock him and tuck him in at night snug in his bed," she said when she was told that her son was safe.

Now, her dream of seeing her son will come true and she can lift the heavy stone from her heart. "For me this day is more auspicious and special than any other festive day. Diwali does not stand a candle in front of this day," Alpa said holding tears back. "I am glad he is back and no harm was done to him." The joy at the Shah household at Kandivli is beyond measure. The entire house is preparing for Karnit's homecoming. "Since my son was kidnapped, I haven't been able to sleep but tonight, I will be able to sleep sound knowing that my son is doing well."

Asked what's cooking to celebrate and Alpa almost immediately quipped, "Every day I have been making Karnit's favourite dishes to keep him alive and tonight will be no different," said the mother of two. She has also taken an oath never to leave Karnit out of her sight for a single moment.

Alpa also wanted to thank people who have kept them in their prayers as it has helped to get through the entire painstaking episode. "Everybody has stood by us in our ordeal and prayed for Karnit's safety and we would like to thank all of them." It isn't just Alpa that is happy. Anand, Karnit's father, said that he wanted to show gratitude to those who responded to his plea on the Internet.
