Just a day after an FSL report revealed that gangster Naresh Aasandas Pahalajani alias Naresh Chaddi died of asphyxia, the Khadakpada police told the deceased's son, Pravin, that his father was choked to death, and that they will register an FIR in the case. The slain gangster's kin are on their way to Ulhasnagar to file a complaint in the matter and get a case registered against corporator Godhumal Kishnani and his associates, who they think are allegedly involved in Chaddi's murder.

Chaddi's wife Deepa, who was the first one to spot his body, told mid-day that he was lying face down on a sofa at Sai Paradise building in Kalyan's Khadakpada area. "I reached Kalyan from Bengaluru by train on February 2, 2016. I called him up on his cell phone several times but he did not respond. I was worried, as we had decided a couple of hours ago that he would come to receive me at the station. When he did not turn up, I reached the building and called him up again. But, there was no response," she said.

"After waiting for a few minutes, I called a key maker and got the door opened. On entering the house, I found Chaddi lying face down on the sofa. I called one of his friends, who reached the flat and informed the police. I don't remember anything that happened after that as the incident was shocking for me," she recalled.
