HM’s statement assumes significance as BJP allies talk of contesting local body elections independently which are scheduled before January 31, 2026

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday emphasised on a “triple engineer sarkar” in Maharashtra as he laid the foundation stone for the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters building at Churchgate in Mumbai. While addressing the party workers during the event, Shah said, “I am not satisfied with the double-engine sarkar. I want a triple-engine government [in Maharashtra].”
The party’s current headquarters is at Nariman Point, and the new headquarters is set to come up at Vasani Chambers near the Churchgate railway station. Shah’s statement assumes significance as senior BJP leaders and Mahayuti allies — Ekanth Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP — are talking about contesting local body elections independently to test their individual strength on the ground.
The stone-laying foundation ceremony was attended by CM Devendra Fadnavis, State Revenue Minister Chandrashekar Bawankule, Maharashtra BJP President Ravindra Chavan, Mumbai party unit chief Ameet Satam, and other senior party leaders. Shah further urged party workers and leaders to work with full strength for the upcoming local body elections in Maharashtra. “Party workers should ensure that the opposition is wiped out in such a manner that one should not be visible even with the binoculars,” Shah added.
The local body elections, including for the crucial BMC and the other 28 municipal corporation elections, are scheduled before January 31, 2026, as per the deadline for conducting the polls set by the Supreme Court. Further, in a veiled attack on the opposition, Shah maintained that the BJP runs on democratic principles and performance-orientated workers can rise in the party hierarchy, which is not the case in dynasty-driven parties. The HM even suggested that BJP should have a party office in every district of Maharashtra by Dec 2026.
