A total of 2,516 candidates have filed their nominations for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, with 2,122 nominations submitted on Tuesday alone, the final day of the nomination process.
According to election officials, 208 nominations were filed from South Mumbai, covering wards A to E (Colaba to Byculla). The island city accounted for 724 nominations, while 930 nominations were filed from the Eastern Suburbs and 852 from the Western Suburbs.
The nomination window remained open from December 23 to December 30, with political parties submitting the maximum number of nominations on Monday and Tuesday, the final two days of the process.
All nominations will be scrutinised on December 31 to verify documents and identify errors or incomplete forms. Invalid nominations will be rejected during this stage. Candidates may withdraw their nominations until January 2, after which the final list of candidates will be published on January 3.
