The government has violated the rules by allotting the land to Ramdev's trust," he said. "If the Congress comes to power in the state in the next assembly elections, it will cancel the allotment," he added. The prime piece of land is located mid-way between Kandaghat town and the hill resort of Chail, 50 km from Shimla. It was given by former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh's royal family to the then-Punjab government. In 1956, areas of Himachal Pradesh were a part of Punjab. Amarinder Singh has already asked the Himachal Pradesh government to revoke the land lease orders. Meanwhile, non-resident Indians in London have planned to stage a protest on Sunday against the June 4 post-midnight police crackdown on Ramdev, said a statement by the Patanjali Trust in UK. Former National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Justice J S Verma however on Saturday expressed his disgust at the number of VVIPs who flocked to receive Ramdev at the airport before he began his fast. "The whole thing was shameful. It was total incompetence on the part of everyone involved," he said. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal and two other ministers met Baba Ramdev at the Delhi airport on June 1 in a bid to convince him to call off his fast that began on June 4. Verma went on to say that Ramdev should respect Members of Parliament as they are elected by the people, however, undesirable they may be.
