College drop-out arrested for robbery

The police arrested a 20 year-old college dropout when he, along with three accomplices, tried to rob a businessman in Kurla on Friday.

The police arrested a 20 year-old college dropout when he, along with three accomplices, tried to rob a businessman in Kurla on Friday.

The accused, Aniket Sudhir Khachhi, is a resident of Tanaji Chowk in Kurla (West), who dropped out of a college in Lonavla. The name of the college was not revealed.u00a0

According to the police, the incident occurred at about 10.45 pm in Chhadva Nagar, which is an area located in Kurla's Match Factory Lane.

The businessman, Piyush Mahendra Jain, was walking in the area, when the four accosted him and snatched two mobile SIM cards, his driving license and Rs 5,000 from his pockets.

After the police arrested Khachhi, they searched hisu00a0 pockets and discovered an unused condom, a small bottle of alcohol and a knife. The police suspect that Kachhi might have planned on committing other crimes.

Jain, however, was able to raise an alarm and passers-by caught Khachhi and handed him over to the police. The others managed to escape.
