Almost a fortnight after a 55-year-old woman was strangled to death by her daughter, son-in-law and their common friend, the trio was finally arrested by officials of the Mankhurd police station. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/oct/aina-Pawar-and-her-husband-.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 500px;" /> ACCUSED: Naina Pawar and her husband Atul were nabbed from Kusegaon in Satara district on Wednesday While Naina Pawar and her husband Atul were nabbed from Kusegaon in Satara district on Wednesday, their friend Mangesh Bhosale was arrested last week in the city. Naina and Pawar tried to fool investigating officers by leaving behind a suicide note in a hotel in Mahabaleshwar, where they initially fled to after committing the crime. Inspector Pramod Kadam of the Mankhurd police station said, &ldquo;Naina and Atul immediately fled to Mahabaleshwar after committing the crime. They stayed in the hotel for a few days. They left behind a suicide note, stating that they had decided to end their lives as they were extremely ashamed of their act.&rdquo; But investigations revealed that the note was a ploy to mislead the investigators. It was the hotel owner who had informed the local police after reading the suicide note. &ldquo;Along with the letter, they left behind two pairs of clothes and their cell phones. They did it hoping that the case would be closed once the police found their suicide note and belongings,&rdquo; Senior Inspector Shankarsing G Rajput of the Mankhurd police station said. &ldquo;They have been staying in the hotel using their original names, as it is generally assumed criminals change their identity. But despite Mahabaleshwar police informing us about the note, we continued investigation because their bodies were yet to be traced.&rdquo; After writing the suicide note, Naina and Atul left for Kusegaon in Satara District, which is their native place, and informed their relatives and neighbours about the old lady&rsquo;s murder. &ldquo;It was one of their relatives who informed the local police following which they were arrested. They were later handed over to us for further investigation,&rdquo; an official said. All three were booked under sections 302 (punishment for murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance) of the Indian Penal Code and they have been remanded in police custody.
