After being named by the CBI in a 10-year-old case alleging links with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, gutka manufacturers Jagdish Joshi, of Goa Gutka and Rasiklal Dhariwal, of Manikchand fame, were on Thursday granted interim relief till September 16 by a special MCOCA court.

On August 18, the investigative body filed a supplementary chargesheet naming Joshi and Dhariwal as accused in a 2005 case, which the special MCOCA court &mdash; presided over by Shrikant L Anekar &mdash; took cognisance of and passed an order asking the duo to be present before it on Thursday. Complying with the order, Joshi and Dhariwal came in before the court and filed an interim bail application, which they were granted. Joshi&rsquo;s son, actor Sachiin Joshi was also present in the court. Dhariwal was in a wheelchair.
The lawyer representing Dhariwal said that during the bail argument, scheduled for September 16, they would be arguing that Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) charge was not applicable in this case and that as the chargesheet has already been filed, their custody would not be required.
