Decomposed body found in Jogeshwari home: 'Blood was oozing from the ceiling'

Occupants of the room below informed police when they saw blood dripping from their ceiling; cops broke open the door and found a rotting body

When the occupants of a room in Jogeshwari (West) perceived blood leaking from their ceiling, they immediately informed the police. Oshiwara cops found a body in decomposed state in the rented house at Verma chawl on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Saroj Kamti (35), a native of Darbhanga, Bihar. The police suspect he died three days ago. The officers said that they reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem to Cooper Hospital.

Was it murder?
“There was a deep visible injury on the man’s head. We are awaiting the post-mortem report to confirm whether the man was murdered,” said Narsingh Sherkhane, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Zone IX). The officers said that Kamti had been working at a dosa stall outside Infiniti Mall in Andheri (West) and had been living in the chawl for the past two months.
