A generator caught fire in a Thane housing complex in the early hours of Thursday, an official said, reported news agency PTI.

No one was injured in the incident at the residential premises along the Mumbai-Nashik highway, said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane civic body, reported PTI.

The fire at the Thane housing complex started in the generator around 4.25 am. After being alerted, local firemen reached the spot and put out the fire by 5.10 am, he said, reported PTI.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, he added.

In another incident, a fire broke out at a high-rise building in Kharghar area of neighboring Navi Mumbai on Tuesday evening but no one was injured in the incident, an official said, reported PTI.

The fire started inside a flat on the 14th floor of 'Chaturbhuj' building situated near Shilp Chowk around 6.45 pm, reported PTI.

Three vehicles of the Kharghar Fire Brigade and one from Kalamboli were rushed to the spot and the flames were extinguished after more than two hours, the civic official said, reported PTI.

While there were no reports of anyone getting injured, the cause of the fire was being ascertained, he said.

Meanwhile, a shop and 16 motorcycles were gutted after a power transformer caught fire near a railway station in Maharashtra's Thane district on Tuesday morning, a civic official said, reported PTI.

A power transformer near Badlapur railway station caught fire around 6.30 am, said Bhagwat Sonanwane, chief fire officer of the Kulgaon-Badlapur fire station, reported PTI.

Local firefighters rushed to the scene, and the blaze was put out within an hour, he said.
No one was injured in the incident, but a shop and 16 motorcycles parked in the area were gutted, the official said.

Preliminary reports suggest that the fire was a result of a short circuit, he said.
