A BMC official said, &ldquo;We have already told the contractor to make sure the uneven patch on the Goregaon ROB is repaired at the earliest. The contractor already started the work in the wee hours of Wednesday.&rdquo;

mid-day went back to inspect the flyover and found that work had started on the flyover arm heading towards Andheri. Around 12.30 am, one of the lanes had been laid with tar and crushed stone powder, and was then topped with a white powder to help it dry faster.
The flyover remains open to vehicles, which will eventually help the new surface settle firmly, after which one final layer will be laid to smoothen the surface. This same process will be repeated with the second lane on the Andheri arm, and then on the Borivli-bound arm as well.
On May 3, mid-day had reported that the flyover &mdash; named after the late socialist leader, Mrinal Gore &mdash; was inaugurated on Saturday but motorists were disappointed to find the road surface uneven and bumpy (&lsquo;Is this what we get for Rs 235 crore?&rsquo;). It was alleged that the quality of work was compromised because political parties were in a hurry to launch it and take credit.
