Bombay HC allows Shiv Sena to hold its annual Dussehra rally on October 22 at Shivaji Park subject to noise pollution rules

The Bombay High Court on Friday permitted the Shiv Sena to hold its annual Dussehra rally at Mumbai's Shivaji Park on October 22. A Division Bench on Justices V.M. Kanade and Shalini Phansalkar-Joshi granted the permission on condition that the Sena follow noise pollution rules as the park falls in a silent zone.
On Thursday, the state government had approached the court seeking its nod for the rally. However, a group of Shivaji Park residents had objected to the rally on the grounds that the park was a silent zone and noise pollution norms regarding loudspeakers were routinely violated. The MNS had also opposed the Sena's plea to hold their rally at the traditional venue.
