An IndiGo flight from Bangkok faced a minor incident at Mumbai airport on Saturday when the tail of the aircraft touched the runway during a go-around due to poor weather conditions, reported the ANI.

IndiGo Airbus A321 aircraft experienced a tail strike at the Mumbai airport while "executing a low-altitude go-around due to unfavourable weather conditions," the airline said.

The aircraft, an Airbus A321, was attempting to land at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport when the go-around was performed at low altitude. During the manoeuvre, the tail made contact with the runway.

IndiGo confirmed in a statement that all passengers and crew were safe, and the aircraft landed safely on its second approach.

According to an official statement from IndiGo, during the manoeuvre, the tail of the aircraft touched the runway at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Despite the occurrence, the aircraft later made a safe landing on a subsequent approach.

"On August 16, 2025, an IndiGo Airbus A321 aircraft tail touched the runway while executing a low-altitude go-around due to unfavourable weather conditions in Mumbai. Thereafter, the aircraft carried out another approach and landed safely," the statement reads.

Following the standard protocol, the aircraft will go through necessary checks/ repairs and regulatory clearance before resuming operations, the statement further said.

In an another incident, earlier this month, A Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight was delayed by over four hours at Jabalpur's Dumna Airport after one of its tyres went flat while parked on the apron, an airport official had earlier said.

The flight had landed from Mumbai around noon, and the tyre deflated after all passengers had safely disembarked.

The incident occurred after flight 6E 792 landed at Jabalpur and all passengers had safely disembarked. It was only after the aircraft was stationary that a deflated tyre was noticed, sources had earlier told the ANI.

The aircraft was scheduled to take off for Mumbai again at 12:40 pm but could not depart due to the flat rear tyre.

The IndiGo aircraft was to return to Mumbai airport at 12.40 pm, but it could not due to the tyre problem, the official said.

The delayed flight with some passengers onboard returned to Mumbai at 5.30 pm after the rear tyre was replaced.
