An important witness in the Sheena Bora murder case, driver Shyamvar Rai, deposed before the special CBI court yesterday, saying he along with Indrani Mukerjea and her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna conspired and killed Indrani's daughter.
The chief examination conducted by CBI prosecutor Kavita Patil started around 12.30 pm and went on for three hours. Rai, also an approver in the case, told the court that he studied till Std X and later learnt driving, and got a job at INX media company, which was run by Indrani and her husband Peter.
'She bought my loyalty' He said that in 2009-10 Peter and his family migrated to another country, and the conspiracy was hatched in March 2012, when, Rai added, as per Indrani's instruction, he created a Skype account with help from her secretary Kajal Sharma to stay in touch with the main accused.
Indrani, he said, "bought his loyalty" by promising to take care of his family's medical expenses and his children's education. She also assured him lifetime employment.
"Tum bohot bharose ke aadmi ho, tumhe kuch bolna chahati hu; tum kisiko kuch mat bolna," were Indrani's words to him when they used to talk over Skype, Rai said.
"Indrani said Sheena and Mikhail were defaming her by calling her their mother and were also fighting over the property. She also told me about Sheena's affair with Rahul, saying these were the reasons to kill the brother-sister duo. Indrani said a man would come from Kolkata to carry out the murder, and that as I am a driver, I have no reason to worry."
Rai said that after the plan was hatched via Skype, Indrani flew down to Mumbai and conducted a recce of a few spots, where she decided to dump the bodies, asking him to remember all of them. And on April 24, 2012, they executed the plan, dumping her body on the spot the next day, he added.
Family reunion During Rai's deposition, both Peter and Indrani were seen making notes.
Yesterday also saw Vidhie paying a visit to the court, and after taking its permission, spending some time with Indrani and Peter.
