Residents of Carani Niwas and adjoining housing societies in Byculla East escaped death by a whisker on Saturday morning as the scaffolding iron structure of an adjacent under-construction building came crashing down. No injuries have been reported.

An iron frame came apart in multiple sections at Maimoon Tower, which consequently damaged the roof as well as water and sewerage pipelines of Motiwala building, Warden Bungalow and Carani Niwas, a three-storey structure. The residents immediately called fire brigade, who then informed the Byculla police station about the incident.
