The Maharashtra government on Wednesday released a document confirming that it had submitted details of flood damage to the Centre. This comes after reports claimed the Union government had not received any submission from the state. State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s office shared a letter seeking financial support under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
Opposition parties slammed the state over the alleged delay and lackadaisical approach towards such a sensitive issue. Responding, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “The report has been submitted to the Union government.”

In October, the Maharashtra government announced a relief package of Rs 31,628 crore for farmers affected by heavy rains in August and September. The floods damaged crops across 68.7 lakh hectares in 29 districts, along with homes, roads, bridges, and public facilities.
The disaster also led to the loss of lives and forced many families to leave their homes. The state said the damages were so extensive that the State Disaster Response Fund alone was insufficient. A Central government team had visited the affected districts from November 3 to 5 to assess the damage, which was included in the report.
