Maharashtra govt to start Marathi lessons for non-maharashtrian auto drivers, hawkers

The Maharashtra government has decided to launch an initiative which would help promote the Marathi language by giving non-Maharashtrian taxi drivers, hawkers and labourers in the city Marathi lessons.

The first phase of this initiative will begin for May 1 in which 5,000 taxi drivers, hawkers and labourers will be taught Marathi in a year, reported Hindustan Times.
