Maharashtra rains: There is a high possibility of intense spells of rain at isolated places in Bhandara, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Amravati, and Gadchiroli

The Meteorological Department has issued a nowcast warning for certain regions in Maharashtra, predicting the likelihood of severe and moderate thunderstorms with lightning, along with rainfall.
An 'Orange' alert was issued for Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Bhandara and Gondia and a 'Yellow' alert was issued for Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Bhuldana and Washim.

The weather department said that parts of Maharashtra including Amravati, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gadchiroli, and Chandrapur would receive rains.
Specifically, there is a high possibility of intense spells of rain at isolated places in Bhandara, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Amravati, and Gadchiroli. It is crucial for the residents in these areas to stay informed about the weather updates and stay indoors if possible during the severe weather conditions.
Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is also expected at a few places in Chandrapur, and at isolated places in Gadchiroli, Gondia, Bhandara, Nagpur, and Amravati. Yavatmal may also experience light rainfall at isolated places.
Residents of these regions are advised to exercise caution and take necessary precautions during the forecasted time period. The weather warning is in effect for three hours.
Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall continued to lash out Mumbai and adjoining areas on Thursday. As a result of this many areas in the city were inundated.
While Mumbai, which was put on yellow alert by the weather bureau, has now been upgraded to orange alert (heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely), India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert (extremely heavy rainfall very likely) for neighbouring Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Ratnagiri.
"Mumbai Thane Navi Mumbai received heavy to very heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours. The impact is seen more in Thane and Navi Mumbai areas with rainfall exceeding 150 mm at many places. Take care of flood-like situations and also landslides in these areas please," tweeted K S Hosalikar - head, IMD, Pune.
In the last 24 hours ending on Thursday 8.30 am, IMD's Santacruz observatory (which represents suburbs) recorded a rainfall of 99 mm, whereas Colaba observatory (represents city) recorded a rainfall of 85 mm during the same time.
Mahabaleshwar, Satara's famous hill station, recorded 315 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending on July 20, 8.30 am. Meanwhile, Dahanu recorded 305 mm of rainfall during the same period.
While Badlapur recorded 408 mm rainfall, Matheran recorded a rainfall of 398 mm.
