Three friends, all residents of Mumbai, were killed in a tragic accident while on their way to Trimbakeshwar, police said. The incident took place in the early hours of June 3. Police said that the driver of the vehicle reportedly lost control and the car plunged into a valley in Kasara Ghat.

Their decomposed bodies were found on Thursday evening in a forested area which was discovered by a local woman who then informed the police.

A police officer said, “The car initially got stuck in a tree, but later it dropped to the ground. No one witnessed the accident.”

The deceased have been identified as Pravin Kumar Singh, a resident of Powai; Rajbali Shaikh, a resident of Kurla; and Yagnesh Waghela, a resident of Andheri. The Kasara police have registered an accidental death report and initiated an investigation into the matter.

The car was driven by Waghela. Speaking with mid-day, Waghela’s brother-in-law, Aniket Khopkar, said, “They left home at around 9 pm on Monday (June 2). At around 1 am (on June 3), Yagnesh’s mother called him and he said they had eaten dinner and were now moving ahead. However, around 3-4 am, Yagnesh’s mother tried calling him again, but the call was not answered. On Wednesday morning, his mother registered a missing complaint at Khar police station.”

“Meanwhile, we received information that Yagnesh was with Pravin and Rajbali. We contacted their families and found that they had also registered missing person complaints. On Thursday afternoon, at 3.30 pm, I received a call from the Kasara police as the car was registered in my name. They informed me that three people who were in the car had died in the accident.”

“The incident occurred at Umbermali in Shirol village. There was a curve near the spot where the car fell into the valley. The car was completely damaged. We have registered an FIR against the car driver, Yagnesh Waghela, for negligent driving,” Senior Inspector Suresh Gavit of Kasara police station said.
