A man was killed after a fire broke out at an apartment in a four-storey residential building in Maharashtra's Thane city, officials said on Thursday, reported news agency PTI.
The blaze was reported at 9.45 pm on Wednesday in the flat located on the fourth floor of the Prathamesh Apartment in Wagle Estate area, Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said, reported PTI.
Firefighters rushed to the spot after being alerted and the blaze was doused by 10.10 pm, he said.

The blaze caused damage to electrical wiring, ceiling fans, mattresses, and other household items inside the apartment, he said, reported PTI.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and an inquiry has been initiated, the official said.
Fire breaks out inside closed office in Ghatkopar
In another incident, a fire broke out in a building in suburban Ghatkopar (West) on Monday evening, a civic official said, adding that no injuries were reported in the incident and the flames were swiftly extinguished, reported PTI.
The fire inside a closed office on the second floor of Metropole building near Zunzunwala College was reported at around 5.59 pm, reported PTI.
A fire brigade team rushed to the spot and doused it by 6.12 pm, the official said.
The cause of the fire was being ascertained, he said.
Fire breaks out in stalls in Thane district; no injuries
Meanwhile, a fire broke out in three stalls in Maharashtra's Thane district in the early hours of Friday and was put out in about 40 minutes, an official said, reported PTI.
No one was injured in the fire that started in the "galas" at Jivdani Nagar in the Diva area, said Yasin Tadvi, Chief of the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation, reported PTI.
The fire control room received information about the fire at 3.07 am. The affected stalls reportedly contained POP (Plaster of Paris) idols, the official said.
While firefighters were sent to the spot, employees of the electricity distributor in the area also reached the location to ensure safety from electrical hazards during the efforts to control the fire, he said.
The firefighting operation was completed by 3.45 am, the official said, adding that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
