Gopal Krishna, a PA to the Chancellor of Mumbai University, was in shock, when he reached his residence at Navjot building in Ghatkopar (West). He saw his mother, Radhabai Krishna (70), lying dead on the floor. He also found his brother Jairam in a pool of blood. His face was mangled, and a massive stone lay near his body.

Victim: Radhabai Shivram Krishna

Gopal claimed that some bangles and a chain was missing from his mother's body. However, the police have ruled out robbery. PI Chandrakant Puri of Ghatkopar police station said, "Robbery could not have been the motive, as the door's lock was intact. The murderer is known to the family and entered the house easily. The elderly lady was strangulated to death, while a large stone was used to kill Jairam."

Neighbours said that the family was rather reclusive, and refrained from interacting with others. Gopal was the sole bread earner of the family, and this was a bone of contention for him. A quarrel had taken place among the family members on the morning of the murder. The DCP and additional commissioner of police reached the spot to investigate the case.
