Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, Sadanand Date has been transferred on deputation to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Though the Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, is considered a prestigious post, after serving for a year, Date asked for a transfer.

He had asked for the deputation to get more experience of working in central agencies. One of the heroes of the 26/11 attacks, he had been injured by terrorists Ajmal Qasab and Abu Ismail&rsquo;s bullets during the attack at Cama and Albless Hospital.
Date, a 1990 batch IPS officer was previously Joint Commissioner, Law and Order, in the city and was also the chief of Force One, formed by the state immediately after 26/11 terror strike. Date has also been awarded the President&rsquo;s medal. He solved several cases like software engineer Esther Anuhya murder, the firing case on Karim Morani.
After Date&rsquo;s transfer, Deven Bharti Special Inspector General of Police, Law and Order, V V Laxminarayana Joint Commissioner of Police, Thane and Dhananjay Kamlakar Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) are in the race to head the Crime Branch.
