He was handed over to the local police and arrested after he was found carrying the bullets illegally. Head had arrived in Mumbai from Newark by United Airlines flight UA 048 (at 9.13 pm), and was to go to Kolkata by Jet Airways flight 9W 484 (that departs from Mumbai at 2 am and lands at 4.25 am).
He was carrying the four bullets (Speer 45 auto) along with an empty magazine in his luggage. After conducting a preliminary check, it was found that the passenger had a valid arms licence from the USA. However, it was not valid in India. The flier was then handed over to the Sahar police.
He was remanded in judicial custody yesterday. “An FIR was registered under the Indian Arms Act. Head said he had put the bullets in his luggage by mistake,” said a police official. An airport official said T2 has been witnessing at least two such cases every month, where fliers were caught carrying bullets.

The housewife was carrying the live bullets in her handbag. Adnaik was booked under the Arms Act, 1959.
