Mumbai's Covid-19 cases dip, but TPR jumps to 1.44 per cent

The number of new COVID-19 cases in the city declined further on Monday, but the test positivity rate (TPR) went up significantly. According to the latest data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai confirmed 410 more infections, while the TPR stood at 1.44 per cent. On Sunday, the city’s TPR was 1.15 per cent. 


The civic body confirmed four deaths due to COVID-19, down from six recorded on Sunday. Two of the four deceased patients had comorbidities. While one patient was in the age group of 40-59 years, the remaining three were senior citizens. 


The doubling rate improved marginally to 1,096 days. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent, as 358 people recovered and were discharged on Monday. 


The state’s COVID-19 cases saw a significant dip in, however, fatalities rose marginally. As per the state health department’s report, 1,736 cases and 36 deaths were reported across Maharashtra.

The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent. A total of 3,033 patients recovered and were discharged on Monday across the state. Currently, Maharashtra has 32,115 active cases. 

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) registered a marginal drop in new cases at 731, including cases reported in Mumbai. 

After Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 58 new ones. Thane reported 49 cases, Navi Mumbai 44, Panvel and Kalyan-Dombivli 45 each, and Mira-Bhayandar 25. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered one death, and it was from Thane.
