A 36-year-old man was arrested for allegedly abducting, threatening and raping a woman at knife-point. A report in the Indian Express said that the man had raped the survivor in the pretext of marrying her in 2013.

According to the police, the man raped the woman when he was released on bail a few days ago. They said that the accused and the survivor were neighbours and they knew each other since 2012. The accused told the police that he was in a relationship with the woman. The woman told the police in a statement that the accused had raped her after he promised to marry her. When he later refused to marry her, she registered a complaint with the police after which he was arrested.
