Soon, you can take a cellphone tour of SGNP If all goes according to plan, the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivli will soon be offering cellphone tours by next month. A cellphone tour is an audio tour that features pre-recorded or streams audio interpretation, via an app on a cellphone. Now in its development stage, the app is the brainchild of environment consultant Shubhalaxmi Vaylure.

It will allow anyone with a cellphone to take a self-guided audio tour around the park. The concept, despite being popular internationally, has been restricted to a few museums and heritage sites in India. This tour is expected to be a one-of-a-kind effort to explore the concept of creating awareness about the unique biodiversity of reserved forest areas like SGNP.

Vaylure told the diarist that the nitty-gritties of the app are still being worked out. &ldquo;We hope to launch it on March 21, which is World Forest Day,&rdquo; she shared.

Blackstratblues is the solo project of guitarist Warren Mendonsa, one-time member of influential Indian rock act, Zero, and he is looking forward to the tour. He says, &ldquo;Even in these times, where recording technology is cheaply available, the chance for a young band to spend time in a professional recording studio is invaluable.
