<p>The long-awaited exhibition, Eckart Muthesius and Manik Bagh &mdash; Pioneering Modernism in India, opens this Sunday (April 27 to August 17) at the Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum. The showcase is presented in collaboration with the Museum f&uuml;r Asiatische Kunst, Berlin and the German Consulate General Mumbai. &ldquo;It tells the fascinating and yet untold story of Indian influence on and engagement with Western art and design,&rdquo; shared Tasneem Zakaria Mehta, director, BDL Museum.</p>

<p>Artist Sudarshan Shaw (below) is on his way to the city for a vibrant one-day sojourn. &ldquo;I was invited by Paul Abraham [founder, Sarmaya Arts Foundation] to talk about my artistic journey,&rdquo; shared Shaw. The talk, 1001 and Counting, will focus on his work to bridge the relationship between nature and art. &ldquo;It is an overall view of my artistic journey, from inspiration to creation,&rdquo; Shaw added.</p>
<h2>Petting time for Mumbaikars</h2>

<p>This Sunday, 3 Art House at Khar is organising Pet Stories, a new community for pet parents where they can share their experiences. Jasmeet Kaur Bagga, founder, said, &ldquo;We have special communities for kids, adults, women, and youngsters. But it&rsquo;s important that we create a community for animals and pets too.&rdquo;</p>
<h2>A new stage</h2>

<p>Aiming to take the road less travelled in the city&rsquo;s diverse landscape of theatre, theatre practitioner and performing arts commentator, Vikram Phukan (below) aims to chart many untold tales with a new platform, called Offcue. The first staging is Jismaan Ton Paar, which will open to audiences today at Five Senses Theatre in Andheri.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The idea behind the platform is to explore offbeat stories &mdash; from theatre screenings and performances, to simple conversations, we want to highlight the ideas that aren&rsquo;t usually explored in mainstream spaces,&rdquo; Phukan told us. With the first show consisting of a play screening revolving around the experiences of a transmasculine person, Phukan intends to delve deeper into theatre, cinema and society. &ldquo;The scope is limited right now since we have only begun but hopefully, we will be able to talk about more &nbsp;important issues down the line,&rdquo; he summed up.</p>
<h2>Night watch in the forest</h2>

<p>The Nature Interpretation Centre of the north division of Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) is back with its annual overnight wildlife census, Nisarga Anubhav. Scheduled for May 12, the census will allow citizens to step into forest areas such as SGNP and its Yeoor range, as well as the Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, to observe the region&rsquo;s biodiversity on elevated platforms called machans. &ldquo;These platforms are stationed near water bodies where animals come to quench their thirst during the summer season. The data also helps in the faunal list of forests. We have forest guards posted in the area throughout the night to ensure safety,&rdquo; Akash Mhadgut, nature education and extension officer, SGNP North Division revealed to this diarist.
