The arteries, are not literally arteries of the heart but actually refer to roads. The event is about traffic issues, which cause stress and panic attacks. The event is a musical concert to be held at: Shanmukhananda Hall, Near King's Circle station on June 29 2014, 5:30 pm onwards.

Locals step up and clean Banganga After we wrote about the need to clean up the Banganga on Friday, Walkeshwar residents got into action to clean the sacred tank on Sunday. Non-Government Organisations Bafna Foundation and Sanskruti Jatan Pratishtan were the spearheads of the clean up held yesterday from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Youth, women and senior citizens lead the charge as more than 75 people got into the water to remove the dirt from the tank. From beer bottles to juice packs and biscuit wrappers, the debris collected was buried near the adjacent sea. The clean up is expected to continue for a week.

Swank loo Nature's call is now just two storeys away for the residents of Shastri Nagar, Vidyavihar. Actually it is nothing more than a basic amenity, it is a public toilet. But this one is a little special as it is two-storeyed. We wonder what happens when nature calls really urgently.

Will people have time to climb up to the first floor? Then comes the question of old people why isn't there a lift for them? But these are just tongue-in-cheek observations. The toilet is a major boon for the people of the area, especially women.
And because something new has to be formally inaugurated, the toilet too was "launched" by Municipal Councillor Pravin Chheda last week. It is not air-conditioned, but the new loo is expected to have 24-hour water supply and electricity. Well... not even houses have that.
