Mumbai witnessed its first ever interstate and fifth in all heart transplant on Friday night when the heart of a brain dead patient from Surat was transferred to Mumbai within one hour and 32 minutes.

58-year-old recipient from Mumbai suffering from dilated Cardiomyopathy and admitted at Fortis Hospital Mulund received a new lease of life after a well coordinated transit between Surat to Mumbai opened doors for an organ transplant channel between the two states, Gujrat and Maharashtra.
