Mumbai: In hospital for fever, pregnant woman dies

Family says there were no doctors at Shrimati S J Dosa Chachani Maternity Hospital, Mulund, where she was admitted; staff had shifted her to Veer Savarkar civic hospital where she died

An 8-months pregnant woman died in Mulund’s Veer Savarkar Municipal Hospital in the wee hours of Tuesday. Her family has alleged negligence, claiming there were no doctors at the Shrimati S J Dosa Chachani Maternity Hospital at MG Road (Mulund), where she had been admitted before being shifted to the municipal hospital.

Nisha Kasabe, 26, a resident of Mulund, was admitted to the Chachani maternity hospital and shifted to Savarkar hospital by the staff. Her family claimed there was no doctor at the maternity hospital after 4pm and her health deteriorated rapidly.
