Mumbai: Kandivli building guard killed in car accident as teacher hits accelerator instead of brake

Bhatia was arrested on the charge of causing death by negligence, a police officer said.

In a shocking incident, a 58-year-old watchman died after being knocked down by a car whose driver allegedly stepped on the accelerator instead of hitting the brakes. Police officials said the driver, identified as Manali Bhatia (29), a school teacher, was arrested and later released on bail.

According to a report in Times of India, the alleged incident took place on Wednesday when watchman Dyandev More was opening the gates of a building to let the car in. More worked as a watchman at Gaurav Garden Cooperative Housing Society in Kandivli West.
