Mumbaikars should brace for more rains around November 6 and 7, thanks to further intensified cyclonic storm Maha. As the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a cyclone alert for Gujarat Coast, it is expected to have some impact over Maharashtra to which might lead to moderate to heavy rains in isolated places, especially in Thane and Palghar.
The cyclone alert for Gujarat Coast, reads, "Severe cyclonic storm MAHA (Pronounced as M’maha) further intensified into Extremely severe cyclonic storm MAHA and lay centered over east-central and adjoining west-central the Arabian Sea on Monday near 670 km west-southwest of Veraval (Gujarat), 710 km west-southwest of Diu and 650 km west-southwest of Porbandar. It is very likely to intensify further till 5th November morning and weaken gradually thereafter. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards slowly during the next 24 hours, re-curve east-northeastwards and move rapidly thereafter. It is very likely to cross the Gujarat coast between Diu and Porbandar as a Severe Cyclonic Storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 100-110 Kmph gusting to 120 Kmph around mid-night of 6 and early morning of November 7."
