Mumbai: Central Railway collects record Rs 16.13 crore in ticket checking drives

During April 2026, ticket checking teams detected and penalised around 2.27 lakh cases of irregular travel across Mail, Express trains and Mumbai suburban trains, including Mumbai AC local trains. This is a 56 per cent increase compared to 1.45 lakh cases recorded in April 2025

The Central Railway on Saturday said that its Mumbai division has achieved a record in fine collections during ticket checking drives conducted in April 2026, an official statement said.

Rs 16.13 crore collection in April marks the highest-ever monthly collection, surpassing the previous record of Rs 14.50 crore set in May 2023, it said.
