Mumbai monsoon update: 91 trees uprooted, nine short circuits reported across city

Heavy monsoon showers continued to lash Mumbai on Thursday, with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reporting 91 tree-fall incidents, nine short circuits, and four house collapse incidents across the city and suburbs. A 55-year-old man also died after falling into an open manhole in Sakinaka while grill installation work was underway.
According to the BMC's latest monsoon situation report, Mumbai recorded moderate rainfall between 8 am and 6 pm, while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continuous rainfall over the next 24 hours, with heavy to very heavy rain at several places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated locations.
