Mumbai rains: Island City records 73 mm rainfall by 9 pm as heavy showers continue

Heavy monsoon showers continued to lash Mumbai on Friday, with the city recording substantial rainfall across all three civic regions, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) upgraded its weather warning to a red alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar for the weekend.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the average rainfall recorded between 8 am and 9 pm stood at 73 mm in the island city, 61 mm in the eastern suburbs, and 58 mm in the western suburbs, indicating widespread rainfall across the metropolis.
